Abstract

This study analyzes the digitalization barriers of the fleet management system (FMS) in BUMA, one of Indonesia's biggest coal mining services. The FMS technology enables real-time monitoring of excavator and truck activities. This study employs a quantitative method by distributing online questionnaires to 351 employees from the production and dispatch departments. The collected data were processed and analyzed using SPSS with exploratory factor analysis. The study identified four barriers: unclear goals and strategies, lack of FMS data optimization, lack of employee digital capabilities, and cultural change. The study offers insights for management to implement recommended policies, such as designing for project charter, infrastructure fulfillment, simulator training for operators, and the obligation of production supervisors to identify root causes and corrective actions. Future researchers need to involve management in their studies to enhance comprehensiveness. Additionally, researchers should consider developing statements for each variable to yield diverse factor analysis results.
